The Webmaster Writes Back

We appreciate your feedback about broken links, updated contact information, ministries that we should include, etc.: keep them coming! But some ideas are so big that we can't act on them right away--and even then, maybe only in a limited fashion, if at all. For those, we at least owe you an explanation, and this is where you will find it.

You wrote us with ideas; now we're writing back. Be bold! Remember, there is no suggestion that is too silly... (to give us all a good laugh).

Q:

(Submit your own feedback here!)

Q:

Is there a word in the English language that includes all five vowels?

A:

Unquestionably!

Q:

How can I get a 'lanesvillechurch.org' eMail address that forwards messages to my own address?

A:

Send me an eMail using this link and I'll set it up!

Q:<

When I sent an e mail to [person] it went to [the church office] instead. What's up with that?!*

* I added that last bit.

A:

Right now, most eMail links go to the office. Like phone numbers & addresses, I don't want to assume that anyone wants his eMail address posted on a public web site, to be picked up by every spammer who passes by!

Update: We have started to use mail forwarding for contacts listed on the site. See above.

Q:

Why don't you put some sort of “under construction” graphic on the pages that are still mostly empty?

A:

Enjoy!

Q:

Can we put the church directory online?

A:

We can, but due to privacy concerns, we won't. Publishing one's name, address, eMail and phone number is unsafe, let alone unwise, and I'd be guilty of webmalpractice if I knowingly let someone do so.

Q:

Can I take over the web pages for my ministry?

A:

Absolutely! For now, mail me the finished pages, and I'll put them up and link them in.

Q:

Is there any way to make changes to a web page myself?

A:

Not at present. On-screen editing can be done, but it takes $$$$. Until then, please use the nearest “Webmaster” link to submit your changes.

Q:

Can we make recordings of Bible studies and other meetings available online, like the sermons?

A:

As long as you have a cassette recording, and permission from participants, we can make it available online. An hour of audio takes up about 15MB, so we might be able to leave them up for a season, but not indefinitely.

Q:

In The Fellowship of the Ring, what is the name of Tom Bombadil's wife?

A:

Goldberry. (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goldberry and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Bombadil)
